At least one Brazilian team will be on the brink of elimination by the time day one reaches its end.
The second round of matchups for the IEM Rio Major Challengers Stage have been set following the conclusion of the first eight matches, which ran late but resulted in some thrilling comebacks and overtimes.
Teams will now fight to avoid ending up in the elimination pool or to put themselves into a qualifying position by the end of day one, with the 1-0 matchups highlighted by a match between OG and fnatic, the latter of whom upset Cloud9 in their opening match.
The 0-1 pool is headlined by an all-Brazilian affair between FURIA and 00NATION, the loser of whom will end up on the brink of elimination and be required to fight back solely through best-of-threes.
Imperial will also take on one of their countrymen from 9z in Lucas "nqz" Soares, while Cloud9 will hope to recover from their opening loss by dispatching of Grayhound.
